St. Bernardus Abt 12 is widely regarded as one of the best beers in the world. It is therefore no surprise that it is our brewery’s flagship beer, ranked at the very top of the St. Bernardus beer hierarchy. It is brewed in the classic quadrupel style and adheres to the original 1946 recipe.
Colour
This is a dark beer with a robust head that is ivory in colour.
The Belgian painter Ivan Theys is renowned for his distinctive voice within the Flemish movement of figurative expressionism. The existential themes present throughout his work are also reflected in the painting ‘The Arnolfinis’ from 1970. It is a reinterpretation of the undisputed masterpiece 'Portrait of Giovanni Arnolfini and his Wife' by Jan van Eyck from 1434.
