GOLDEN CAROLUS AMBRIO
INTRODUCTION
Gouden Carolus Ambrio is traditionally brewed based on the age-old recipe of the Mechelschen Bruynen . Ambrio is an 'amber' beer brewed with 'brio'. This amber-colored top-fermented beer has its origins in the traditional beer of the city of Mechelen. Just as every city had its own typical beer, the people of Mechelen drank their own amber beer for hundreds of years: “Mechelschen Bruynen”. Our brewery is the only one that still brews this type of beer. According to tradition, the basic recipe of this beer dates from 1421 , making it the oldest beer still brewed by the brewery.
The current version is slightly heavier than before and more finely hopped. The balance between the different malt types, the fine hops and typical aromas of herbs ensure that this beer combines the full-bodiedness of brown beers with the freshness of blonde beers .
This flavored and spicy light brown tasting beer can be served quite fresh. Refermented in the bottle.
