Ah, craft beer's favourite oxymoron next to the white stout. We submitted our first effort at the Black IPA earlier in the year with New Tropical Reflex, and whilst we really vibed off the coconut sweetness of Sabro, we wanted to take a trip along the old school Black IPA route, making a detour along the pacific highway to pick up some Amarillo, Bru-1 and Columbus from the Yakima Valley. The result is Classic Unknown - a Black IPA with the pithy bitterness of citrus fruit peel, heavy floral characteristics, backed up with just a hint of pineapple from Bru-1 to counteract the awesome dark chocolate notes a-plenty from the roasted barley in the grist bill.
