A Belgian Royal Stout from Flanders aged for 2yrs in Ardbeg whisky barrels.
The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of the Struise brewers, based on the Black Albert beer. Solid Flemish stouts, brewed in Oostvleteren and aged in the most diverse oak barrels from many of the best wineries and distilleries from around the world.
1892 - William Grant builds the Balvenie Distillery in the abandoned Balvenie New House. In 2018 we ferment Black Albert up to 15% and add it to a set of fantastic whiskey & sherry barrels from this distillery. To create The Balvenie DoubleWood, David Stewart takes MBE whiskey that has been aged in traditional whiskey casks, American oak ex-bourbon casks and hogsheads for at least 12 years, and moves it into Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for an additional nine months. The Balvenie DoubleWood single malt whiskey owes its character to the maturation in two different types of wood. Each stage imparts different qualities to the resulting single malt whisky. The traditional casks soften and give a delicate character, the sherry wood gives depth and full flavor and the last few months in our casks allow the whiskeys to blend harmoniously.
