For the past two years the team at Ayinger have been working on a way to satisfy consumer demand for moderation. Alongside this it was essential that it had to still be an Ayinger beer, properly representing the full taste and traditional character that has made them so well loved around the world.
Through their research on this project, they became aware that this wasn't actually a departure from tradition at all. In fact, 150 years ago bottom fermented beers with a lower alcohol content were commonplace.
Over several trial batches, they've arrived at Bavarian Lager, a beautiful expression of the Helles style coming in at 3.2% ABV, but maintaining everything we know and love about the category.
