David Bailey’s going back to the pub and, being the gent he is, has kindly offered ‘One for Yourself.’ A classic English IPA with a modern twist made with Sheffield heroes Saint Mars of the Desert.
This nearly-trad beer makes use of Bullion hops which bring a vibrant and unlikely punch of Ribena! A wave of blackcurrant is followed by the soft orange notes of UK grown Cascade and Ernest hops. All on top of the 19th century’s favourite India Pale Ale malt, Chevalier. The result is an incredibly full and smoothly flavoured nod to the past.
Saint Mars of the Desert are a real ‘brewer’s brewer’, producing a whole variety of beers that are all about the perfectly balanced rather overly flashy. Their collection of somewhat ramshackle buildings on the outskirts of Sheffield has become a pilgrimage for brewers and drinkers alike.
Hukin Hops have been growing British aroma hops for over 100 years and have been working with the Low Carbon Hop Company to reduce the carbon footprint of hop production. By shredding freshly picked, as opposed to dried, hops, they’re able to lock in all the freshness and aroma of the field.
David Bailey is an illustrator based in Manchester, who’s idiosyncratic style has become almost synonymous with the UK’s beer scene. His Patrons Project’s illustrations, full of life and personality, are an ode to the Pub in all of its guises, personalities and oddities.
