FOR THE NEXT BEER IN THIS PATRONS PROJECT SERIES WE HEAD NORTH OF THE BORDER TO COLLABORATE WITH SODA PRODUCERS RAPSCALLION.
We had a fun back and forth of ideas with Gregor, trying to select fruits with some
level of seasonal availability for them, which would work both as a beer and as a soda, and provide a bit of fun in these unusual times. The result? Our very own Quarantini.
This passionfruit smoothie IPA, loosely based on the Pornstar Martini, starts with a base full of silky oats, plus maltodextrin and lactose for maximum body and mouthfeel. Whirlpool hopped with Cascade for some base elderflower and citrus character, we then added 230kg of passion fruit juice to the fermenter for a tart punch and tropical lead.
After dry hopping with Citra, Sabro and Motueka to complement and accentuate the fruit flavours (plus adding a hint of lime zest aroma), we rounded out the beer with vanilla for that finishing touch.
INGREDIENTS: Malted BARLEY (GLUTEN), OATS (GLUTEN), LACTOSE (MILK), Passion Fruit JC, Hops, Vanilla, Yeast
